One morning, I was driving my father-in-law to the airport when a plane flew silently over the road like a big bird, about to land at the airport.
“It’s magic,” my father-in-law said. I looked at him, unable to understand. He was a doctor who lectured at colleges and had visited more than 100 countries. He understood better than 1 why a plane can fly in the sky. It really wasn’t magic.
But now, I realize he was at least partly right. While flying might not be magic, it’s certainly magical(神奇的). What it brings to our lives is something found in dreams.
But too often, we — I — forget.
I read a sentence a few months ago, which said “You know you’re growing-up when you no longer want a window seat.”
Too often in recent years, I’ve often asked for a seat near the exit (出口) row, forgetting the wonders of traveling fast. But sometimes, when the Wi-Fi or my computer is not working, I remember to look.
I think of one time when I was leaving on a family vacation. Moments after take-off, I started working. But a passenger behind me wouldn’t stop talking, “The clouds!” he kept saying, “Look at the clouds!” I turned around, and saw two men, one who appeared to be in his 70s and the other much younger. The chat continued for 20 minutes until, not patiently, I raised my eyes from my computer screen and looked out of the window.
The clouds!
He was right. We were flying through big soft balls of cotton, each as different as a snowflake (雪花) and seemingly close enough to touch. The afternoon sun offered all kinds of colors:pink and salmon, red and raspberry, crimson and ivory, all against a blue sky. I put away my computer and appreciated them for the rest of the flight.
I don’t remember the work I thought I had to complete that afternoon. But I’ve never forgotten those clouds.

C. When people grow up, they do not like changes.
D. When people grow up, their minds slow down.
21. The writer wrote this article to .
A. tell us to look up at planes sometimes
B. explain to readers how planes fly in the air
C. remind readers to appreciate the beauty around them
D. show that Views from planes are better than views on the ground

Aron Anderson is in a class of his own. In fact, he’s the only pupil in his school, that is to say, the ten-year-old is the sole student at the most faraway primary school in Britain. Aron (whether he likes it or not) gets the undivided attention of his teachers, all the time.
During the school day he has two classrooms, a craft room, a music room and a library all to himself. And at break, he has the run of the whole playground with its slides, swings and basketball court. One problem, of course, is that although he loves football, there are no other pupils for him to play with. This makes him one of the most expensively educated children in the UK.Aron’s father Ewan, 43, is a fisherman. His mother Denise, 46, is a trained firefighter.
The island has seen the closure of its secondary school and salmon farm — causing many families to leave. Mum Denise said, “I just wish we could go back ten years. There were lots of children — and the older children used to help the younger ones at school. It would be lovely to have some more families here.”
