Be grateful to life感恩生活
Once President Roosevelt’s house was broken into and lots of things were stolen. Hearing this, one of Roosevelt’s friends wrote to him and advised him not to take it to his heart so much.
美國(guó)總統(tǒng)羅斯福的家曾經(jīng)失竊，財(cái)物損失嚴(yán)重。朋友聞此消息，就寫信來(lái)安慰他，勸他不必把這件事放在心上。
President Roosevelt wrote back immediately, saying,”Dear friend, thank you for your letter to comfort me. I’m all right now. I think I should thank God. This is because of the following three reasons: firstly, the thief only stole things from me but did not hurt me at all; secondly, the thief has stolen some of my things instead of all my things; thirdly, most luckily for me, it was the man rather than me who became a thief…”
羅斯?？偨y(tǒng)很快回信說(shuō)：“親愛的朋友，謝謝你來(lái)信安慰我，我一切都很好。我想我應(yīng)該感謝上帝，因?yàn)椋旱谝?，我損失的只是財(cái)物，而人卻毫發(fā)未損;第二，我只損失了部分財(cái)物，而非所有財(cái)產(chǎn);第三，最幸運(yùn)的是，做小偷的是那個(gè)人，而不是我……”
It was quite unlucky for anyone to be stolen from.. However, President Roosevelt had such three reasons to be so grateful. This story tells us how we can learn to be grateful in our life.

If you always complain about everything, you may own nothing in the end. When we are successful, we can surely have many reasons for being grateful, but we have only one excuse to show ungratefulness if we fail.
如果對(duì)生活感恩，你的生命將充滿燦爛的陽(yáng)光;如果一味怨恨，終將一無(wú)所獲。我們成功時(shí)，有千萬(wàn)個(gè)理由感恩生活，而失敗時(shí)，只要一個(gè)借口就會(huì)表現(xiàn)出忘恩負(fù)義。
I think we should even be grateful to life whenever we are unsuccessful or unlucky. Only by doing this can we find our weakness and shortcomings when we fail. We can also get relief and warmth when we are unlucky. This can help us find our courage to overcome the difficulties we may face, and receive great impetus to move on. We should treat our frustration and misfortune in our life in the other way just as President Roosevelt did. We should be grateful all the time and keep having a healthy attitude to our life forever, keep having perfect characters and enterprising spirit. Being grateful is not only a kind of comfort, not an escape from life and nor thinking of winning in spirit like Ah Q. Being grateful is a way to sing for our life which comes just from our love and hope.

When we put a small piece of alum into muddy water, we can see the alum can soon make the water clear. If each of us has an attitude of being grateful, we’ll be able to get rid of impulse, upset, dissatisfaction and misfortune. Being grateful can bring us a better and more beautiful life.

The happy door快樂之門
Happiness is like a pebble dropped into a pool to set in motion an ever-widening circle of ripples. As Stevenson has said, being happy is a duty.
快樂就像一塊為了激起陣陣漣漪而丟進(jìn)池塘的小石頭。正好史蒂文森所說(shuō)，快樂是一種責(zé)任。
There is no exact definition of the word happiness. Happy people are happy for all sorts of reasons. The key is not wealth or physical well-being, since we find beggars, invalids and so-called failures, who are extremely happy.
快樂這個(gè)詞并沒有確切的定義，快樂的人快樂的理由多種多樣?？鞓返年P(guān)鍵并不是財(cái)富或身體健康，因?yàn)槲覀儼l(fā)現(xiàn)有些乞丐，殘疾人和所謂的失敗者也都非?？鞓?。
Being happy is a sort of unexpected dividend. But staying happy is an accomplishment, a triumph of soul and character. It is not selfish to strive for it. It is, indeed, a duty to others and us.

A carpenter's story木匠的故事
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurel life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week ,but he needed to retire. They could get by.
有個(gè)老木匠準(zhǔn)備退休，他告訴老板，說(shuō)要離開建造行業(yè)，回家與妻子兒女享受天倫之樂。雖然老板給他的工資很高，可是，他更想享受退休生活。生活總能維持下去。
The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes,but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.
老板很不舍得他的好工人離開，問他是否能幫忙再建一座房子。老木匠答應(yīng)了。但是大家后來(lái)都看得出來(lái)，他的心已不在工作上，他使用的是次料，做工也很粗糙。這真是一種令人遺憾的結(jié)束自己事業(yè)的方式。
When the carpenter finished his work ,his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter "This is your house..." he said " my gift to you. "
房子建好的時(shí)候，老板前來(lái)視察，然后把大門的鑰匙遞給他，說(shuō)道：“這是你的房子……是我送給你的禮物。”
What a shocked!
老木匠驚呆了!
What a shame!If he had only known he was building his own house,he would have done it all so differently.Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.
真是丟臉啊!如果他早知道是在給自己建房子，他一定不會(huì)這么應(yīng)付了事的?，F(xiàn)在他得自己住自己修得很湊合得房子了。
So it is with us .We build our lives in a destructive way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best.At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently.
我們又何嘗不是這樣。我們漫不經(jīng)心地“建造”自己的生活，不是積極行動(dòng)，而是消極應(yīng)付，凡事不肯精益求精，在關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻不能盡最大努力。在生命的關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻，我們沒有付出自己最大的努力。等我們驚覺自己的處境，早已深困在自己建造的“房子”里了。如果能夠重新來(lái)過，我們一定不會(huì)這么做。
Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board,or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more,that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.The plaque on the wall says,"Life is a do-it-yourself project." Who could say it more clearly? Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.
就當(dāng)你自己就是那位木工吧。在建造“生活”這所房子。每天要釘釘、鋪板、砌墻。那么,你就該用心地去建。你的生活只能這樣建造。哪怕你只在房子里住一天，這一天也應(yīng)該活得優(yōu)雅、有尊嚴(yán)。墻上的銘言寫道：“生活正如一項(xiàng)DIY的工程。”誰(shuí)能比這個(gè)說(shuō)得更明白?你今天的態(tài)度與選擇決定了你明天會(huì)住在什么樣的“房子”里。
