Gong Yixiu, the prime minister of the state of Lu, was very foud of fish. The people of Lu who knew his addiction all came to his home bringing him fish. Gong Yixiu rejected all the fish brought him.
He believed if he accepted other people's fish, he would have to accommodate himself to them. If he accommodates himself to them, he will break law someday and be removed from post. At that time, although he still loves fish, maybe there will be no one to bring him fish.

A while back, there was a story about Reuben Gonzolas,
Who was in the final match of his first professional racquetball(回力網(wǎng)球) toumament at match point in the fifth and final game, Gonzolas made a super "kill shot" into the front corner to win the tournament. The referee called it good, and one of the linemen confirmed the shot was a winner.
But after a moment's hesitation, Gonzolas turned and declared that his shot had skipped into the wall, hitting the floor first. As a result, the serve went to his opponent, who went on to win the match.
Reuben Gonzolas walked off the court, everyone was stunned. The next issue of a leading racquetball magazine featured Gonzolas on its cover. The lead editorial searched and questioned for an explanation for the first ever occurrence on the professional racquetball circuit. Who could ever imagine it in any sport or endeavor? Here was a player with everything officially in his favor, with victory in his grasp, who disqualifies himself at match point and loses.
When asked why he did it, Gonzolas replied, "It was the only thing I could do to maintain my integrity."

Lincoln was delighted to advocate the cases of those whom he knew to be wronged, but he would not defend the cause of the guilty.
If he discovered in the course of a trial that he was on the wrong side, he lost all interest, and ceased to make any exertion.
Once, while engaged in a prosecution, he discovered that his client's cause was not a good one, and he refused to make the plea. His associate, who was less scrupulous(小心謹(jǐn)慎的), made the plea and obtained a decision in their favor. The fee was nine hundred dollars, half of which was tendered(償付) to Mr. Lincoln, but he refused to accept a single cent of it.
His honesty was strongly illustrated by the way he kept his accounts with his law-partner. When he had taken a fee in the latter's absence, he put one half of it into his own pocket, and laid the other half carefully away, labeling it "Billy," the name by which he familiarly addressed his partner. When asked why be did not make a record of the amount and, for the time being, use the whole, Mr. Lincoln answered, "Because I promised my mother never to use money belonging to another person."
