1:Betrothal Gifts
There are always news about how many betrothal gifts a man has to prepare to get a bride in China. In fact, this is not only happened in China, many less developed countries also have the same problem. Though the marriage is about two families but only two people in love, but I can't agree that the groom have to paid overload to the bride's family to get marry.
The betrothal gifts in the old time of China were given to the parents in law by the groom to thank them for having been taking care the bride, and after being marry, the bride would have very few chances to come back to see them. So the betrothal gift was also called “bride price”. But this is not suitable for today’s situation. The young couple will always visit the parents and support them, it is unfair for the man to pay much money to the parents in law anymore.
On the other hand, the bride’s parents requirement too much bride price would rise the conflict between two families and then hurt feelings of the young couple. The marriage would come to a crisis.
Two people get marry should be based on love, not doing business. They have their own life to go on, the parents should give them the best blessings, not obstacles. The sound betrothal gifts and enough love, the marriage will have a wonderful start.
2:Football Reform
Since the president Xi Jinping took office, the football reform had become a hot topic in China.
I watch every FIFA World Cup match since I was ten years old, when I also started playing football. My greatest wish is to see Chinese football team can goes to the World Cup, but it always disappoints me except the one in 2002 FIFA World Cup, it didn’t do well anyway. I believe most of football fans like me have been hurt by Chinese football team.
But apart from the bad management of the football association, I can see why Chinese football has always been weak somehow. When I was a high school student, I used to like playing football very much, and I liked to play it for one or two hours with my friends after school. I took it as a good hobby and it could help me keep healthy and active, but my teachers didn’t think so. They always took the study as the most important part in our high school age, they wanted us to focus on study, which meant to put every minute on the study. Furthermore, the year I went to senior grade, the school decided to block out the football field, no one was allowed to play football in it. This was definitely a disaster to Chinese football career.
I hope the football reform will bring some changes in the high schools, free the football field, let us keep loving the football.
3:Open Housing Estates Or Closed Ones?
Recently the government released a file about the suggestions on the city planning management which suggested that to stop building the closed housing estates but building the open ones in order to promote the open community system. By which means, the existing closed housing estates would need to be took down the walls and make the private roads and garden greening go public.
This is like a bomb blast on the internet. People either against or support.
Some people think it is a good idea to take down the walls to get the residential districts more open and meanwhile, let the gardens and the roads the estates be a part of the city, no doubt it would help to improve the city appearance.
On the other hand, people would have some worries. First of all, the housing estate is the private property including the roads and the garden greening inside, is to make them go public legal? Second, how does the property management work? No walls and entrance guards would make the security a big problem, who will be responsible for the extra managing work?
Anyway, the suggestion of the open housing estate has not settled yet, people still can talk about it and make some effort to it.
